Cat-Like Stars

RyanDavid Burningham
I can no longer count the beats of my heart. As the night transpires, my chest quickens its pace. Reaching beyond what I know, I feel the raw night and gaze up at the waxing moon as it follows its path across the velvet sky. Slowly, cat-like, the stars move from their perch and the whole night is my audience, whispering the wind into my ears. Nature's footsteps are invisible only to the blind in heart. This is the lesson I learned from this winter night.
